Album Cover for DJ

Project: Album Cover, Logo Design
Client: DJ Mister Fister
Location: Hollywood, CA
Tools: Flash, Photoshop
Backstory: DJ Mister Fister has been collecting electronic dance music records and playing them out since he was 16. We experimented with some fresh logo concepts and color palettes. We liked the idea of using fists as a texture. We tried it out as a background and eventually progressed and upgraded it to a texture featured on a custom type face. Then we brought in the incredible satellite dish graphic and generating a very lovely and balanced composition. We added some grass and a background of a parchment and stone blended texture. The second release by the artist was a mix called “Saul Goodman’s Pork Roll, Egg, and Cheese mix.” So we photoshopped a headshot of Saul Goodman himself as well as a stock image of a pork roll egg and cheese sandwich to create this fun cover design.

Satellite Router Concept

Project: 3-D Model, Satellite Dish, Router Casing Concept
Client: DoggHouse Productions
Location: Los Angeles, CA
Tools: Sculpey Modeling Clay, Flash
Backstory: Giant satellite dishes fascinate me. Ever since I was a little boy in a dog costume daydreaming, I’d see these radar vibe transmitters and my jaw would just drop. There was also that part in the Cable Guy when Jim Carrey fell into one, I think that was after the scene when they go to Medieval Times, so good.

Logo for AVBM

Project: Logo Design, Flyer Design
Client: AVBM
Location: Washington, D.C.
Tools: Flash
Backstory: AVBM was the name of a nightlife promotion organization. The letters stand for the four team members first names. I know the “B” which stands for Boosayo Odunlami, my colleague from Lehigh University. He was working over at the World Bank and felt a need to gather like-minded young work crushers in DC’s illest venues, hot spots, clubs, bars, and restaurants. For the record, I will forever spell the word restaurant incorrectly unless I have a spell check tool; that word is impossible to spell. I, personally, went witht he crew over to the Eighteenth Street Lounge on a wednesday night and it was pumping. Definitely a way rad spot to check out. The Thievery Corporation guys nailed this club venue.

Mondrian in CMYK

Project: Graphic Design, Mondrian CMYK
Client: DoggHouse Productions, Mixed Media Use
Location: Hollywood, CA
Tools: Photoshop
Backstory: I used to study at Lehigh University and one of my courses was in art history where I learned about Piet Mondrian.
Apparently the guy was big on LSD. In other news, the artist created lots of very geometric compositions featuring thick black lines and red yellow and blue swatches. These compositions may or may not have been bird’s eye view simplified city grids.

Diptych by DHP

Project: Diptych
Client: Lehigh University Color Theory Course
Location: Bethlehem, PA
Tools: Color-Aid Swatches, X-acto Knife, Rubber Cement
Backstory: Here is a graphic composition diptych that I created while studying at Lehigh University. At the time I was extremely focused on the absence of an ego, but at the same time proclaiming some sort non-anonymity, all the while studying and practicing techniques of expression through art. A lot of inflection was happening.

iPatch Campaign Poster

Project: iPatch Campaign Poster, Graphic Design
Client: DoggHouse Productions
Location: Hollywood, CA
Tools: Flash
Backstory: Apple iPod billboards and advertisements canvas Los Angeles around every corner, on every major street, and in every magazine. Maybe I was listening to a lot of pirate jokes, or maybe it was all of the Johnny Depp Pirates of The Caribbean billboards everywhere else that inspired this masterpiece of graphic design execution.

Graphic Design by DHP

Project: Graphic Design, Free Bear
Client: DoggHouse Productions, Mixed Media Use
Location: Hollywood, CA
Tools: Photoshop, Flash
Backstory: At this point in my life, I was watching a lot of Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies. For the record, I happen to love bears, especially polar bears. Anyhow, I feel like Looney Tunes somehow inspired me to create this graphic where a baby polar bear is trying to play a painful trick on a grizzly bear by luring him in with a free T-bone steak so that he can drop a grand piano on his head.

Graphic Design by DHP

Project: Graphic Design, Forklift
Client: DoggHouse Productions, Mixed Media Use, Open Source
Location: Los Angeles, CA
Tools: Photoshop
Backstory: If you saw the logo concept for Travisty I designed in the last post, you might notice that the fork lift actually features a fork as the lift mechanism on the machine. I thought I would take that seemingly clever and playful concept and try to create a realistic version of a forklift twirling some spaghetti and meatballs.

Logo Concept for Travisty

Project: Logo Design, Graphic Design
Client: Travisty Home Inventory Service
Location: Charlottesville, VA
Tools: Flash
Backstory: June 21 every year is not only the first day of the spring season, more importantly it’s International Go Skateboarding Day. A few years ago, I was doing just that and met one of my best homes of all time. His moms was looking to start her own business as an insurance preventative measure for disaster recovery in a residential setting. The company was to be named Travisty, a play on travesty and the name of her son and my homeboy’s name Travis. The love for this woman towards her so and the reciprocation is incredibly remarkable.

Background Art for Pilot

Project: Background Artwork, Flash Motion Graphics, Animation for Cartoon Series Pilot
Client: Richard Turke, Hugnapper
Location: Hollywood, CA
Tools: Flash
Backstory: I was living in Hollywood at the time and was struggling and hungry for some design work. Richard Turke was putting together a pilot for his cartoon series idea Huggnapper, and was in need of some flash animators & illustrators. The gig posted on Craigslist was pro bono, but I accepted some responsibility and had a blast designing the bar scene for the short. I met a fellow designer named William Pitcher and he did a great job with much of the textures & shading.

Logo for Troubl

Project: Logo Design, Graphic Design
Client: Troubl Media
Location: Bethlehem, PA
Tools: Flash
Backstory: Here is a graphic design logo concept image that I created while studying at Lehigh University. The client was Troubl Media, some sort of internet gangster community. A former colleague referred me for the project.

Product Design by DHP

Project: Product Design, Graphic Concept
Client: DoggHouse Productions
Location: San Francisco, CA
Tools: Photoshop
Backstory: I study every thing that I have the pleasure of experiencing. I’m also a huge fan of gestural art & design, where an object’s function takes on literal meanings and practicalities.

Graphic Design by DHP

Project: Graphic Design, Abundance
Client: DoggHouse Productions, Mixed Media Use, Open Source
Location: San Francisco, CA
Tools: Flash
Backstory: As a huge fan of cartoons, I rather enjoy any opportunity to practice illustrating concepts. A few years ago I was doing a lot of reading about the power of positivity, the laws of attraction, well-being, happiness, good fortune, books like “the Secret” and “Secrets of the Millionaire Mind“, Deepak Chopra, and all that good stuff. Anyhow, one of the concepts that I liked most was about how there is such a thing as abundance; an abundant amount of resources, available for anyone and everyone who seeks them. There is plenty more than enough to go around for everyone, or at least there could be.
