Backstory: This is a very special project, as it was conceived out of pure passion & imagination, with a hint of biomimicry – a term coined by Janine Benyus in which the best designs and solutions already exist in nature. A friend of mine hit a bad beat at the Tropicana Casino in Atlantic City and walked away with a good chunk of money. He came out to visit Los Angeles and took my brother & I to Las Vegas for the weekend to celebrate and kick it. On the way we stopped for gasoline in the desert. The gas station was minimal, and the shop featured a large janky tin roof. There were these large black birds, not quite vultures, with white feet recklessly crash landing onto the tin roof making all kinds of noise. I was fascinated and mesmerized.
