Backstory: Jonathan Salvador has been a good friend of my brother’s ever since they attended Cornell University together earlier this century. I was traveling up and back to New York City and Jon made for an excellent maître d’ of sorts recommending places to eat & party as well as joining me on these adventures. It got to the point where the young man owed me a little bit of money. We ceased communication for years until I got a phone call asking permission for him to come move in with us in Hollywood. I gave the scenario the green light and several months later we moved into a bigger place in Redondo Beach together.
“Out of sight, out of mind” is one thing, but living in your space was a recipe for built up tension. We communicated my lack of appreciation for the owed money and he eventually paid me back. I was thrilled by his performance and gesture that I took some of the money and put together this custom piece. The original painting is a masterpiece by Rene Magritte titled “Son of Man” where there is a green apple in front of the man’s face. It took several hours of meticulous photoshopping, cloning, stamping, lassoing, but the end result was damn near flawless.
The image design was printed by Canvas4Life where DoggHouse Productions has a preferred professional business account and can grant you special discounts on orders if you choose to have a print made. The prefabricated frame came from an Aaron Brothers store as custom frame shops really rape you on pricing.
